The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for Department of State Hospitals (DSH) is responsible for assisting and collecting patient data in the delivery of care in the Correctional Setting. This includes administering medication, taking vitals, conducting chart reviews, and working closely with the psychiatric prescriber on the care and treatment of Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) patients. The LVN also facilitates tele-psychiatry appointments and provides competency restoration services to IST patients in both group and individual formats.

Under the direction of the JBCT Program Director, the Jail Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) Clinician is a Masters prepared clinician (LMFT/LPCC/LCSW) who is primarily responsible for the clinical support component of the JBCT program. The Clinician will utilize multiple therapeutic techniques (eg: CBT, MBSR, etc.) to lead daily/weekly psycho-educational groups which support competency restoration (eg: anxiety management). The Clinician is the primary clinical staff and also meets individually with patients on a daily/weekly basis to support treatment and facilitate mental stability, as it relates to competency restoration and overall well-being.
The Forensic Psychologist performs court ordered evaluations, commitment and recommitment evaluations. Evaluates individuals served with suspected mental health difficulties, which may include issues of Competence to Stand Trial (CST) or Criminal Responsibility (CR), aid-in-sentencing, and civil commitment related to mental illness.
The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSRS) is responsible for providing rehabilitation services, crisis intervention, and monitoring and communicating with clients diagnosed with severe psychiatric symptoms. This includes assisting with daily operations, conducting activities, providing clinical support, education, and vocational rehabilitation to help individuals develop skills and access resources needed to increase their capacity to be successful in their chosen environment. The PSRS works directly with clients, families, stakeholders, and the healthcare team to address concerns and ensure compliance with department protocols, policies, guidelines, and facility standards.
