Step Up Your Role as a Custody Officer II!

 

Take on a leadership role in ensuring the safety and security of our facility as a Custody Officer II! You’ll oversee everything from the outer perimeter to internal areas, maintaining vigilant supervision and accountability for individuals served. Ready for a challenge? This role includes high-stakes responsibilities such as key and tool control, armorer duties, and transportation, where your expertise truly shines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures Security and Prevents Emergencies
    Remains vigilant and takes necessary actions to prevent emergencies and elopements at the assigned post.

  • Monitors and Controls Systems
    Operates and oversees communication, surveillance, and emergency systems to ensure proper functioning and safety.

  • Observes and Identifies Security Risks
    Monitors individuals' behaviors and identifies potential security breaches, implementing necessary precautions.

  • Responds to Emergency Situations
    Quickly responds to emergency calls, de-escalates aggressive behavior, prevents elopements, and assists clinical staff in preventing harm.

  • Controls Facility Access and Inspects for Contraband
    Manages access to the facility, verifies identification, searches for contraband, and monitors the environment for safety and elopement risks.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Required: Two (2) years’ experience.
  • Required: Must have completed the basic recruit training course(s) or its equivalent as established by the state certification/licensing authority, if required by state or contract.  

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Required: Must meet minimum age requirements as defined by the State certification/licensing authority. 
  • Required: Must be a Certified Correctional Officer or be enrolled in a state recognized training academy in accordance with temporary employment authorization mandates as established and required by the applicable State Commission.
  • Required: Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
