How you make a difference

Competency Trainer – Empowering Individuals Through Education & Legal Understanding

 

Are you passionate about educational training and cognitive development? As a Competency Trainer, you will play a vital role in the competency program, helping individuals grasp essential legal concepts and better understand their own legal situations.

 

Working under the direction of the Program Administrator, you’ll utilize cognitive remedial and restructuring techniques to deliver impactful training, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Your work will directly contribute to empowering individuals, enhancing their legal comprehension, and supporting their journey toward competency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Competency-Based Group Training – Conduct engaging, multimodal educational sessions using discussions, reading, video, and role-playing to enhance learning in a group treatment setting.
  • Provide Individualized (1:1) Tutoring & Case Support – Work directly with individuals served to review their specific cases and provide tailored guidance to assist in their defense.
  • Maintain Accurate & Comprehensive Documentation – Record assessments, training progress, and treatment summaries in compliance with company and facility documentation requirements.
  • Conduct Assessments & Treatment Activities – Provide additional evaluations or therapeutic interventions aligned with professional education, training, licensure, and experience.
  • Collaborate in Treatment Planning – Actively participate in weekly Treatment Team meetings to contribute insights and support coordinated care efforts.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Required: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Preferred: Teaching and/or tutoring experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree, RN or LVN license, or teacher certification/licensure in the state of employment.
  • Preferred: Certification in Correctional Competency Training.
