How you make a difference

The Food Service Assistant is an essential part of the kitchen team, ensuring that every meal served to individuals and staff is of the highest quality and nutritional value. You'll play a hands-on role in maintaining food safety, rotating stock, and keeping work areas clean and sanitized. By working closely with the management team, you’ll help ensure that every meal meets health standards and contributes to a positive dining experience for everyone. Your efforts support the overall well-being of those you serve, making a real impact on their day!

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Serving and Portion Control: Serve portions of food according to assigned diets per menu and diet cards for individuals served, ensuring accuracy and compliance with dietary needs.

  • Sanitation and Cleanliness: Follow proper sanitation practices, including cleaning, food storage, temperature monitoring, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment in accordance with health standards.

  • Food Safety: Ensure food is maintained at proper temperatures, prevent cross-contamination, and ensure a safe environment for both individuals served and staff.

  • Kitchen Equipment Maintenance: Clean kitchen equipment according to the daily and weekly cleaning schedule, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and report any repair needs immediately.

  • Record Keeping and Compliance: Complete food production records, ensure proper food temperatures are logged, and meet HACCP standards. Also, deliver and retrieve food carts to/from units as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Preferred: Experience in food service. 

Certifications:

  • Required: ServSafe certification obtained within three (3) months of employment.
