How you make a difference

As an RN Infection Control working under the guidance of the Health Service Administrator, I am committed to adopting a proactive stance in curbing the transmission of diseases within our healthcare facility. In this role, I undertake the responsibility of educating nursing staff and delivering both direct and indirect care to all personnel while ensuring strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulatory standards. Moreover, I evaluate, plan, and coordinate the comprehensive employee health program, fostering a collaborative approach by interfacing with staff at all levels and diligently reporting findings to the Health Service Administrator and relevant committees.



Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and enforce infection control, employee health, and nursing department education policies and procedures within the organization, reporting directly to the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or designated authority.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate the annual infection control plan, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, DCF, and Infection Control guidelines.
  • Manage various aspects of employee health, including pre-employment testing, N95/TB/Influenza testing, PPD testing, blood exposures, needle sticks, injuries, illnesses, COVID management, and disease outbreaks, notifying relevant departments and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct employee physicals, maintain health databases, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, utilizing historical data to address employee health issues and submitting necessary documents to internal and external departments.
  • Serve as the facility expert on universal control, exposure control, and blood-borne pathogen techniques, conducting risk assessments, recommending cleaning procedures, revising policies based on current literature, and ensuring adherence to county, state, OSHA, APIC, and CDC regulations.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing

Experience

  • 1- 3 years’ experience in nursing or infection prevention required, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Experience in development, implementation, evaluation, and coordination of programs/protocols, along with working knowledge of hospital asepsis, microbiology, epidemiology, and methods of operating required.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Currently licensed as a RN in the state of employment or compact state
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
  • Current certification in Infection Prevention preferred or accomplishment within two years of date of employment
