How you make a difference

As a Master's Level Social Worker, the role involves independent assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients using clinical and psychosocial perspectives. The Social Worker provides group and family therapeutic interventions, advocates for patients with the Local Mental Health Authority, and coordinates all aspects of discharge. In addition, the Social Worker stays updated with relevant legal issues related to patient care and ensures effective communication between the recovery team and families, guardians, and community providers. 



Key Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized care and treatment that meets the age and developmental needs of each patient. 
  • Coordinates all aspects of discharge planning and related documentation, develops and implements interventions for barriers to discharge, and advocates and negotiates with internal and external systems on behalf of patients. 
  • Conducts crisis intervention, family therapy, and therapeutic groups in accordance with patient's recovery plan objectives and needs, while maintaining accurate medical records and complying with performance improvement and hospital policies. 
  • Promotes self-knowledge and professional growth by attending educational offerings, achieving and maintaining state mental health licensure, and participating in clinical supervision as needed. 
  • Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement activities, serves as practicum instructor for social work interns, and cooperates with colleagues to serve the well-being of patients. 



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling is required.

Experience

  • Must have knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) and community resources. 
  • Two (2) years of experience with the severe and persistent mentally ill is preferred. 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker is preferred.
