How you make a difference

Are you a skilled Medical Director looking for a flexible opportunity to make a meaningful impact? Look no further – we're seeking a dynamic Medical Director to join our team on a part-time basis (20-25 hours per week)!

 

The Medical Director is a key figure in managing and overseeing the medical services provided to residents in a facility. They are responsible for a range of duties, including directing and assessing medical services, planning and monitoring medical staff, and ensuring that all residents receive quality medical care. As the primary care physician for all residents, they also provide consultations and referrals to and from other medical staff as necessary to ensure the best possible outcomes for residents. Overall, the Medical Director plays a critical role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of residents in a facility. 



Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs medical, psychiatric, dental, and laboratory functions at the facility, ensuring compliance with National Treatment Guidelines. 
  • Provides medical care to residents, including minor surgical procedures and ongoing evaluations and treatment planning. 
  • Reviews and evaluates facility-specific medical policies and procedures for compliance with National Commission on Correctional Health Care standards. 
  • Designates continuing care facilities and specialty physicians and participates in utilization management initiatives. 
  • Provides individualized care and treatment to patients, considering their age and developmental needs. 



Qualifications & Requirements

Education  

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine or other primary care specialties.

 

Experience  

  • Two (2) years of experience as a Medical Director in an acute inpatient setting is preferable.   
  • Four (4) years post residency clinical experience in an acute inpatient setting, with psychiatric and/or correctional health experience preferred.   

 

Licenses/Certifications  

  • Must have and maintain a current and in good standing license with the State of South Carolina.   
  • Must also have and maintain a DEA and DPS certificate of registration.
