How you make a difference

The Recovery Specialist at Treasure Coast Forensic Treatment Center develops, organizes, and leads Recovery Group Activities, including evidence-based group education and treatment, for a designated unit. They collaborate with the treatment team to implement the interdisciplinary treatment plan in compliance with facility and Department of Children and Families standards. The primary focus of this role is to facilitate daily Recovery Groups/Activities that address residents' mental and emotional challenges, as well as relationship issues like trust and self-esteem.



Key Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and facilitate Recovery Group Activities based on a specific curriculum, providing residents with evidence-based group education and treatment to address mental and emotional challenges as well as relationship issues.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to review individual resident progress in scheduled monthly meetings and consult on individualized adaptive strategies to promote independence and emotional regulation.
• Facilitate specialized referral classes, accurately collect data on class attendance, and document residents' status, progress, and behaviors thoroughly and accurately.
• Reassess residents monthly to determine their readiness to advance within the Role Recovery Model, maintaining timely and efficient communication and collaboration with the treatment team and other staff members.
• Maintain a stimulating group environment, contribute to the development of person-centered goals and strengths-based interventions, and ensure timely and accurate documentation of services provided, adhering to professional standards and facility procedures.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field and one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting, preferred, or
  • Three (3) years of experience in a mental health setting may be considered to offset the degree requirement.

Experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels within the facility, in addition to a variety of outside customers with varying interests.
  • Above average writing skills. Must be able to thoroughly and effectively document all work performed in the position.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
