How you make a difference

As a Physician, the main responsibility is to assess and provide medical care to patients, including supervising the clinical activities of ARNPs and PAs, and collaborating with other medical staff to provide consultations and referrals. This role involves ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of assessments, making referrals for tests and consultations, and monitoring ongoing patient care. Additionally, the Physician may be required to provide on-call coverage for after-hours care of patients. 

 

This position is PRN: This position will work overnights on weekdays (16 hour shifts), as well as working long shifts with overnights on the weekends (24 hours). We offer flexibility to the number of shifts worked monthly.  



Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts medical examinations and provides treatment to patients, including ordering tests and ancillary services, and documenting patient care in medical records. 
  • Reviews and coordinates treatment planning for patients requiring ongoing medical/consultative services and ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures. 
  • Participates in healthcare staff meetings and continuous quality improvement initiatives, and provides supervision and guidance to assigned Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs). 
  • Coordinates healthcare for patients during treatment, designates continuing care facilities and specialty physicians, and serves as a patient advocate for medical needs. 
  • Maintains professional development and stays current with knowledge applicable to the position. 



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • MD from an accredited university.  Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine.

Experience

  • Two (2) years post residency clinical experience in an acute inpatient setting, psychiatric experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed in the state of practice.
  • Has a current DEA and D.P.S. certificate of registration.
