How you make a difference

As a Clinical Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct care services under the guidance of the Program Director. You will conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the level of risk and acuity of individuals and develop personalized treatment plans to meet their specific needs. In addition, you will facilitate psychoeducation groups and implement reinforcement strategies to help clients achieve their treatment goals and improve their overall quality of life and functioning. 



Key Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Specialist is responsible for providing daily client care, including conducting evaluations, developing treatment plans, and addressing client concerns. 
  • They facilitate multidisciplinary treatment teams and work with admission and discharge staff to ensure appropriate treatment outcomes. 
  • The Clinical Specialist is responsible for training staff, reviewing authorizations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • They serve as a contact point between facility departments, clients, and stakeholders to ensure effective treatment and positive experiences. 
  • Works together as an active member of the treatment team to uphold standards of competency amongst the team by collaborating with other clinical specialists.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of a M.A. or M.S. in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of (2) two years of experience or training working in a mental health program serving persons with severe and persistent mental disabilities. Such experience shall be in the direct provision of services to a program’s identified clients or residents. Population experience must include those experiencing psychosis or severe mood dysregulation.
  • Demonstrated experience in a mental health and/or chemical dependency setting (preferred).
  • Training or experience with electronic medical records (e.g. Cerner) preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
  • Valid California driver’s license (preferred)
  • Registered intern, licensed or licensed eligible as Psychologist, MFT, LCSW, LPCC (preferred).
  • National Provider Number (NPI number) required.
  • CPI Certification (provided by the facility within first 90 days of employment). Interest in Crisis Intervention Training Certification and ongoing education preferred (CPI facilitator certification)
