How you make a difference

The Psychiatrist at Hampstead is a key role that involves assuming responsibility for the admission, continuing care, and discharge of patients at the Hampstead Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF). As a leader of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, the Psychiatrist provides expert psychiatric care, contributes to hospital-wide performance improvement efforts, and actively participates in various activities to ensure high-quality patient care. This role requires clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic psychiatric care setting.



Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations, including mental status examination and assessment for movement disorders, for patients admitted to HHRTF with psychiatric disorders.
• Provide treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders, including medication prescriptions, psychotherapy, consultations, follow-up and monitoring, education, and documentation.
• Supervise and provide clinical oversight for the multi-disciplinary team, including staff and students, and participate in performance improvement activities and hospital-wide committees.
• Demonstrate compliance with special precautions, disaster and fire safety procedures, and abuse reporting, while being sensitive to cultural diversity and age-specific care needs of patients.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge applicable to the position and adhere to company Code of Conduct Standards.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • MD or DO degree from  an accredited university
  • Completed an accredited  residency program in Psychiatry

Experience

  • Experience in treating psychiatric disorders in acute care and/or institutional setting preferred.
  • Three years of experience in a behavioral health setting treating child and adolescent populations highly desired.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New Hampshire
